Synopsis

Rennik has been distrusted for a decade due to a mysterious childhood incident. But when the Achare people find their entire existence threatened, he must overcome challenges both at home and in the wild in order to save them.

Rennik plunges into the deadly threats of the Kalanosi plains, the heated politics of the Achare, and the strange divination magic of his mentor. He must convince the Achare clan to leave their promised land and find safety in travel, that a home is not a place, but a people. A dangerous opposition forms in the shape of Ciqala, a belligerent man who will do everything in his power to keep them where they are, ready to raise spears against the coming threat—a prideful decision that will surely make a graveyard of their home.

To save his family, his people, and himself, Rennik must change from a disgraced outsider to a leader of his people, from a quiet hunter to a man of action. After all—he won't always have a herd of bison to do his killing.
